Jack Moehling is the retailer of the stores, while his father Jack Moehling, Sr. and his brothers Jeffrey and Eric handle the wholesale side of the business. “We grew up working in the furniture factories in North Carolina after school and during the summers,” Moehling says of him and his brothers. “We have a lot of experience in the furniture industry.” Over 100 years of combined experience, to be exact.

Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. is the largest selling furniture brand in America, while Ashley Furniture HomeStores, LTD (with all stores combined) is also the largest furniture retailer in the country. “Ashley Furniture is truly a world class company,” says Jack Moehling, who started as a sales representative for the company 18 years before opening his first location in Richmond in 2002.

Jack Moehling and his family, who are members of the BetterBusiness Bureau, are proud of what their stores offer, as well as the customer services that they are known for providing. “We want to have good, fast, capable service,” says Moehling. “Our furniture is a very good value. We have great prices and we believe we are the best furniture company in terms of price, value and customer service. Customer service is the most important thing to us.”

Even during these hard economic times, the Moehling family wants to make purchasing furniture a reality for their customers. “We try to make it easy for the customer to buy,” Moehling says. “We offer very attractive credit terms with a zero percent interest
program, a no credit check program, based on income, and even a military credit program. We also have price points that meet almost anyone’s budget as well as styles that also can meet anyone’s design taste.”

The Moehling family’s stores also sustain the goal of highest quality furniture delivery. “Our 98% in home completion rate is simply a measurement of our delivery teams, meaning 98% of our deliveries are perfect with no damage to the furniture or the home, and on schedule,” says Moehling. “We have worked very hard to achieve this high rate and we are very proud of our delivery teams for maintaining our high standards.”

Moehling’s Ashley Furniture HomeStores are known for their humanitarian efforts (donating to charities and furniture recycling with Habitat for Humanity), as well as their commitment to the environment. “We’ve been able to reduce the amount of trash that goes to local landfills by recycling our cardboard, plastic and Styrofoam,” says Moehling. “We used to send 48 tons of waste to the local landfill but now we only send 12 tons per year. This is better for the local environment and reduces our costs, which in turn helps us keep our prices low.”
